Rotation vs. Ultrasonic

The limitation that ultrasonic waves must be transmitted effectively does not apply here. This results in the advantage over ultrasonic devices through the use of strong solvents, such as waterless liquids, with the simplest being benzin. These solvents are essential for removing decades-old grime from watch movements. Additionally, steel parts do not rust in waterless solutions, and the rotation effect ensures a continuous flow of liquid over the surface, leaving a shiny finish. The before-and-after effect is typically remarkable.

Functionality

Left knob for speed control: 30 to 1800 rpm. Left/Right automatically with 3 minutes interval
Right knob: Timer, 2 minutes to one hour or unlimited.
The basket, when closed, has an interior with a diameter of 70 mm and a height of 45 mm. The trays have an inner diameter of 62 mm.

Watch Cleaning Machine Made in Europe

This machine is crafted for those who value traditional manufacturing techniques, where new methods meet time-honored craftsmanship. Most components are produced just as they were fifty years ago—through hard work and skilled hands. The process begins with the molding of aluminum parts like the case top, followed by meticulous grinding and painting. The motor is made through pure metalworking processes. This approach, rooted in techniques that have stood the test of time, ensures a product of enduring quality and embodies the best of old-world craftsmanship. The housing is made of aluminum and features controls for speed and timer function. The parts are placed in stainless steel/plastic inserts and then rotated in the washing basket. Except for the basket, which is printed from very durable polymer, the machine is made of aluminum and stainless steel. This device is manufactured at the Kieler Technology Center, Schauenburgerstraße 116, 24118 Kiel.

Parts Not from Germany:

The power supply is from the Taiwanese manufacturer MeanWell, but Made in China.
The material for the motor magnets is 99% produced in China; finding an alternative is difficult.
Electronic components such as transistors and microchips mostly come from Taiwan.
The resin for the basket is from China.

Material:

Housing: Aluminum
Heating Element: Aluminum
BLDC Motor: Aluminum and Steel
Washing Basket: Durable Plastic
Screws and Motor Shaft: Stainless Steel

Usage

As known from watchmaking, this device achieves a cleaning effect by rotating parts in a cleaning fluid. Larger parts, such as the main plate of a wristwatch movement, can be placed directly into the basket. The delivery includes two glasses, one for cleaning and one for rinsing, such as with distilled water. However, drying the parts must be done externally, for example with a hairdryer or at a low temperature in the oven.

Scope of Delivery:

1x Watch Cleaning Machine UF-0
1x Table Power Supply 18V/3.3A

Limitation

The device is only to be used for metallic small parts, such as those found in wristwatch movements. Please refer to the accompanying safety sheet (link below) and the user manual (included)!

Interesting alternative to a standard machine

A professional clockmaker washing machine is usually huge (and expensive). I went with this compact machine not to put my marriage in jeopardy (it sits on the countertop in the kitchen).

Used with waterless cleaning / rinsing solutions, the result is really good. Give your parts a quick hand cleaning first if there’s rust to get rid off. And you’ll be happy with the results.

Let me add that the machine looks and feel very sturdy.

Good, small watch cleaning machine

So my first movement was cleaned with this new wonderful machine. The watch was a rather dirty Waltham Traveler pocket watch from 1903 (model 1899). The cleaner worked spot on, I am very satisfied. The parts came out spotless and the whole process didn't take long and was very quiet. I washed the parts in Elma 1:9, then dried them in an empty pot and then rinsed them in Elma Suprol Pro Rinsing, as I always do. The 'shine' on the parts is much better than with the ultrasonic, but I already knew that. What is more important to me is that the jewel holes and other small details came also out very clean. The compact size of the machine didn't took much space of my workbench at all. Compared with the bulky usual setups. All in all, I am very satisfied and the credit goes to Torsten as an engineer and creator.
